Cambelts

One of your car’s most essential components to maintain is the cambelt (although some engines use a chain instead). The engine valves open and close at the appropriate moments because the cambelt synchronises the spinning of the crankshaft and camshaft. A cambelt can snap if it is not changed when it should be, resulting in expensive, significant damage.

As a general guideline, you should get your cambelt changed regularly based on the manufacturer’s recommendations of time or the mileage covered (whichever comes first).
